Assessing suppliers health and safety competence is usually a lengthy and time consuming process. Suppliers can sometimes meet one buyer’s Health and Safety standards but not another. Being CHAS approved reduces duplication as suppliers compliance is accepted by all CHAS buyers.
CHAS assesses applicants:

• Health and safety policy statement;
• Their organisation for health and safety;
• Their specific health and safety arrangements to a standard acceptable to our buyers and to others.

The UK plant hire industry is the best established and most professional in the world, and theConstruction Plant-hire Association (CPA) is the leading trade association for the UK industry. Established for over 60 years, the Association now has well over 1,500 members throughout the United Kingdom. Members companies range from owner-operators with a single machine, right through to the largest in the industry, with hire fleets of thousands of machines. Together, CPA Members supply over 85% of hired plant to the construction industry

CQMS Safety Scheme Accreditation

CQMS' Safety-Scheme is dedicated to promoting higher health and safety standards and membership of our scheme ensures companies are assessed in accordance with the SSIP Core Criteria.

CQMS offer a fast and straightforward application process with comprehensive auditor responses.

To reduce the burden and bureaucracy of health and safety paperwork CQMS support the ethos of the SSIP forum and are pleased to mutually accept all other Health and Safety assessments by SSIP Member Schemes.

We are an Executive Non-departmental Public Body responsible to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and an Assembly Sponsored Public Body responsible to the National Assembly for Wales.

Our principal aims are to protect and improve the environment, and to promote sustainable development. We play a central role in delivering the environmental priorities of central government and the Welsh Assembly Government through our functions and roles.
 

Exor was established in 1997 to provide an efficient, outsourced supply chain service to Public and Private Sector Organisations. The service encompassed all categories of expenditure with all types of suppliers, ranging from Sole Traders to FTSE 100 companies. Exors supply chain programme is specifically designed to enable organisations to best meet targets and obligations in the areas of efficiency, economic development, regeneration and procurement risk management in line with key Central Government initiatives.

The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary scheme operated by TfL. It encourages sustainable best practice for road freight operators who deliver in, and service, London or who intend to do so. FORS promotes safe working practices, legal compliance and safety of road freight operations in London.

In liaison with British Standards (BSI) (link) a PAS provides a sponsored, fast-track route to standardisation and procedures driven by the needs of the industry. Key stakeholders are brought together to collaboratively produce a BSI PAS that has all the functionality of a British Standard for the purposes of supporting certification, sharing good practice or supporting innovation.

The National Federation of Demolition Contractors is the voice of the UK demolition industry. It is dedicated:

• To a continual improvement of the demolition industry for the benefit of its members, customers, and the general public through training, monitoring and policing of best practices;
• To enhanced flow on information and discussion between the demolition industry and Government, trade and technical organisations;
• And customers for the betterment of the industry at large; And to raising the profile of the demolition industry to ensure that it receives due recognition for its commitment to training, health and safety, and the improved working conditions it affords its members and their employees.

Working with many of the major UK housebuilders we have developed experience and expertise in new build construction but we also deal with many other construction organisations.

As a dedicated H&S assessment company we do not get distracted by other activities such as H&S Training or Consultancy. This also means that you can be confident that there is no conflict of interest in any of our assessment decisions.

All of our Assessors are qualified H&S professionals, have completed the SSIP Assessor Training and are audited annually by an independently appointed SSIP Auditor.
